Frequently Asked Questions

  • No. You don't need a referral, and you don't need to know exactly what's wrong before you call. That's what we're here to figure out, together.

  • We work with most major insurance plans. Visit our Insurance page for the full list, or give us a call — coverage details change, and we'll do our best to work with you.

  • Your insurance card and a photo ID, a list of current medications, and any prior hearing test results or medical records related to your visit. A family member or support person is always welcome.

  • Every evaluation is thorough by design, so plan for a full appointment rather than a quick in-and-out visit. Your clinician will walk you through the timing when you schedule.

  • Yes — several of our specialty areas, including Auditory Processing Disorder, treat both children and adults.

  • We are in-network for many insurance plans, which may cover diagnostic services, although specific coverage will be plan specific. Many plans also have hearing aid coverage, with the exception of Medicare. We encourage you to speak directly with your insurance carrier to discuss specifics related to your individual insurance plan.

  • Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) will cover the diagnostic hearing and balance exams only if your primary care physician orders these tests based on symptoms, conditions, or complaints that would require medical treatment. Medicare does not currently cover regular hearing exams or treatment, including hearing aids or exams for fitting hearing aids.

  • Hearing & Balance Specialists offers an unbundled treatment plan for our patients. “Unbundled” means offering a clear differentiation of the services from the products.

Using an unbundled model of care means that there are no hidden fees in the purchase of hearing aids or any other treatment plan.

  • Our practice specializes in hearing loss, tinnitus and sound sensitivity, dizziness and imbalance, concussion, and auditory processing disorders. Please see our Services Menu at the top for a complete list of all of our services.
